In the Greek alphabet, the letter Omega symbolizes excellence and perfection. Louis Brandts founded his watch assembly workshop in 1848 in La Chaux-de Fonds. In 1880 Brandt's sons relocate to the flats of Bienne - the first enterprise to abandon the assembly workshop system in favour of a true modern factory producing all its own parts. The famous Omega 19-line calibre created in 1894 soon became the firm's symbol of excellence - and the namesake of the entire company. Throughout the century Omega watches have held a special place - as the official timekeeper of 21 Olympic Games, as the watch worn by the astonauts who made the first moon landing - and more recently the Seamaster became the choice of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond.
